Nationale Verzehrsstudie II
The purpose of the National Nutrition Survey II
Take-away pizzas, exotic fruit and an increasing number of kiosks selling snacks in cinemas or at petrol stations – significant changes in food availability and in our eating habits have taken place over the last few years. It is therefore likely that our dietary intake will also have changed. But no-one knows for sure, because it is about 20 years since the last representative survey was carried out in the western part of Germany before reunification. Up-to-date information on which to base dietary recommendations and consumer advice in Germany is urgently required.
The Federal Minister for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection has therefore commissioned the Federal Research Centre for Nutrition and Food to conduct a second national nutrition survey.
The NVS II provides information
- on the nutrient and energy intake of 14 - 80-year-olds
- on current food consumption
- on lifestyle and eating behaviour - what, when, where and why do Germans eat?
Two reports with the results have been published. The first report dealing with the sociodemographic description of the participants, data on health and lifestyle aspects and anthropometric measurements was published January 2008 in Berlin.
A second report about the food and nutrient intake data followed in May 2008.
Here you will find the reports together with the summarized results as press information (in german).
